Discover our story, team, and vision for integrated development in Africa.

Our Mission

Build a generation of empowered young Africans through locally-led integrated development approaches.

Our Vision

A world where young voices drive transformative change by promoting the interconnectedness of Population, Health and Environment towards holistic, sustainable, local development.

Our Philosophy

Everything connects - solving multiple problems at once using African indigenous wisdom. 1 + 1 = 2, 3 & 4.

Our Story and Journey

The Kenya PHE Youth Network was born in November 2023 in Lake Elementaita, Nakuru County, following a BUILD PHED Leadership Training that brought together 18 young leaders from across Kenya. What started as a shared learning experience quickly evolved into a bold decision to form Kenya’s first‑ever national youth‑led PHE network.

United by the belief that population, health and environmental challenges are deeply interconnected, the founding members committed to ensuring young people are not just beneficiaries, but leaders and partners in shaping Kenya’s PHE agenda.

Since then, the Network has grown into a dynamic, pan‑African youth movement engaging young people across counties and borders through policy advocacy, research, digital campaigns, community action and regional collaboration.

Key milestones include participation in UNCPD58, development of the Kenya PHE Strategic Plan 2023-2027, and the launch of our PHE Cycle Campaign. We've reached over 30,000 youth, engaged 2,000 physically, covered 25 counties in Kenya, and built partnerships across Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, and Nigeria.

Our journey emphasizes youth leadership in Population Health Environment and Development (PHED) action, amplifying young voices in conferences like KPDC2025 and fostering sustainable PHE activities throughout East Africa.

Our Journey

What We Do

Kenya PHE Youth Network strengthens youth leadership and action at the intersection of Population, Health and Environment by:

  • Advocating for youth‑inclusive PHE and PHED policies at national, regional and global levels
  • Building youth capacity through leadership training, mentorship and knowledge exchange
  • Driving digital advocacy and storytelling to amplify youth voices on PHE, SRHR, climate and development
  • Supporting community‑led initiatives that integrate health, environmental conservation and livelihoods

Our Approach

Our work is grounded in locally‑led, evidence‑informed and youth‑driven approaches. We recognize that PHE integration is not one‑size‑fits‑all, and solutions must reflect the realities of diverse communities — from pastoralist and coastal regions to urban and rural settings.

By combining policy engagement, grassroots action, indigenous knowledge and innovative digital tools, we ensure young people are equipped to design and lead solutions that are inclusive, practical and impactful.

Our Impact

In a short period of time, Kenya PHE Youth Network has:

  • Engaged over 30,000 young people through digital campaigns and online advocacy
  • Reached more than 2,000 youth through in‑person dialogues, trainings and community activities
  • Expanded presence across 25 counties in Kenya
  • Built partnerships and collaborations across East and Southern Africa, including Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi and Nigeria

Why PHE Youth Network?

Youth are at the center of today’s population dynamics, health outcomes and environmental realities — yet are often excluded from decision-making spaces. Kenya PHE Youth Network exists to change that.

We bring together young practitioners, advocates and community leaders to ensure integrated PHE solutions are designed with youth, not just for youth. Our strength lies in our diversity, innovation and lived experience across Kenya’s social, ecological and economic landscapes.

Youth-Led

We are led by young people actively working in health, climate, SRHR, policy and community development spaces.

Integrated Solutions

We address population, health and environment challenges holistically, recognizing their deep interconnections.

Locally Grounded

Our work is rooted in community realities, indigenous knowledge and locally-led development approaches.

Policy & Advocacy

We amplify youth voices in national, regional and global PHE and PHED policy conversations.
